LIVE at Double Dutch

I recorded the first 40 minutes or so of my mix at Double Dutch last Thursday night, and think it came out pretty good. Always love spinning there because I get to play pretty much nothing but the old school. So you won't find any top 40 in this live set, but plenty of true hip hop, R&B, and soul instead! Enjoy.

Download the mix.

Poison (E-Rock rmxxx)

My dude DJ E-Rock just sent me over his new remix, and it's a banger. He gives one of the great club classics - BBD's "Poison" - a fresh, new Bmore flavor. Grab it...

This Week's HEAT: Manor West / Ambassador / Double Dutch

This Saturday night my residency at San Francisco's Manor West continues. Hosted by my good friend Nick Macario, this is consistently one of the best nights of the month.

Guestlist here.

This Thursday night I'm back at one of my favorite spots in the Mission - Double Dutch. One of the only places I get to spin a ton of old school hip hop, R&B, funk, soul, pop, etc.

This Friday - Ambassador. Certified.

Cabo

I'm thankful to not only get to do what I love for a living, but also to play in some amazing places. This weekend I'll be DJ'ing in Cabo San Lucas, and when I'm not working taking plenty of time to vibe out on tunes like this...

Drive It Like You Stole It (King Fantastic rmxxx)

The Glitch Mob are fierce, and I'm a fan. So when I came across this King Fantastic remix of "Drive It Like You Stole It" on which West Coast MC Killer Reese One adds very fine lyrics, I was sold. An amazing track made even better.

Gucci Time

I love the fact that one of my favorite hip hop producers - Swizz Beatz - has a special affinity for French electronic rockers JUSTICE. First he used a JUSTICE track for HOV's "On to the Next One"; now he flips another for the lead single off Gucci Mane's The Appeal out this fall. Straight banger.

Step Away from the Turntables

Highly recommended article in the August 2010 issue of 944 Magazine entitled "Step Away from the Turntables" on pages 82-83. Excellent reading for both amateur as well as professional DJs, and anyone who likes going to clubs.

In this digital age of DJ'ing, appreciate those DJ's you hear who can not only rock a club well but do it in a unique manner.

Teenage Dream (MegaMan & Panic City rmxxx)

New heat from the certified production duo of DJ MegaMan and my dude DJ Panic City. Track that's making every lady go crazy in the club right now, and every guy go buy the new issue of Rolling Stone (with the woman below on the cover).

You've Changed

First fell in love with Sia when I saw her perform with Zero 7 at The Fillmore in SF a few years back. Lady makes amazing pop music in her own right though... such as this head-nodder that came out earlier this summer. File this in "warmup tunes to make people happy."

Timin'

Hyphy may be dead, but Bay Area hip hop stays locked. Take this classic from two Bay Area greats - E-40 and San Quinn - done as a promo track for KMEL a few years back. (B-Legit and Richie Rich were also on the full-length version.) The crew flows over one of my favorite beats of all time - "Grindin" by Clipse - and make it an essential for your crates. Thanks to Scotty Fox.

This Week's HEAT: Kiehl's LifeRide for amfAR / Vessel / Sapphire

This Friday I'm proud to be DJ'ing the Kiehl's LifeRide for amfAR event at Kiehl's Fillmore. LifeRide is an inaugural 6-day motorcycle ride up the California coast to benefit amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research. Celebrities such as Peter Fonda, Giovanni Ribisi, and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age will be participating.

Friday night catch me rocking one of my favorite clubs in San Francisco - Vessel. Amazing room, amazing soundsystem. Presented by Don't Be Shy Entertainment, this will be a great party.

Guestlist here.

This Saturday night I'm excited to return to Sapphire in Livermore, voted the best club in the East Bay by Diablo Magazine. Last time I played here I had a blast.

As always, thanks for the support!

Black & Gold

Wale is back this week with his new mixtape More About Nothing, and this banging track samples Sam Sparro's classic...
Wale's flow plus Sparro's vocals are definitely a dope combo.

Mojo So Dope

There's always a good amount of Kid Cudi material floating around the interwebs, but this new cut really jumped out at me. Presumably off Man On The Moon II coming out this fall...
