Manor West 7.31.10

This Saturday night my good friend and host Nick Macario and I will be teaming up for our monthly bash at San Francisco's Manor West. Without a doubt one of the best nights of the month. This time we'll be joined by the ladies of Desired Temptations to make it an even bigger deal. Come get down.

Get on the guestlist.

Bang Bang Bang (U-Tern's Disco Dub)

U-Tern did an amazing job with this. Always felt the original needed a bpm boost. Apparently Mark Ronson just sent him the original master session too, so look out for a possible official remix, including vocals.

Louder Than Words

I'm sure that pretty much all of my DJ friends already have this, but it's so massive that I had to post it up for everyone's enjoyment. I was accompanied by the trumpet of Rico DeLargo when I played this at Infusion Lounge last week, and it was definitely an awesome moment. For all the people who asked what the tune was, here you go...

Louder Than Words

Also buy it at Beatport.

American G-Funk

Classic mixtape time... perfect Sunday afternoon material.

About 2 years ago, DJ Benzi and The Knocks released American G-Funk - a complete rework of HOV's American Gangster album. They dug deep in their crates and found some awesome soul, R&B, and pop samples. Below are my 2 favorite cuts. If you don't already have it, you'll definitely want to add this mixtape to your collection.

This Week's HEAT: Infusion Lounge / The Parlor / Double Dutch

Three awesome events this week, kicking off tonight at San Francisco's Infusion Lounge. Definitely excited for this one, as I'll be joined by the live trumpet of Rico DeLargo - one very talented musician.

Guestlist here.

Tomorrow (Friday) night I'm on the decks for a huge party at The Parlor. Love playing here, and the last we did the champagne social event it was a huge success.

Guestlist here.

This Saturday night I'm back at one of my favorite spots in the Mission - Double Dutch. One of the few places I get to spin a ton of old school hip hop, R&B, funk, breaks, etc. Come get your b-boy/b-girl on.

Johnny Fresh - Fallen 4 U

I first met Jin and Jordan of Bay Area group Johnny Fresh back in March when we were randomly thrown on the bill together at a club in San Francisco one Saturday night. They gave me a demo of some of their stuff after the show and I really liked what I heard. It's always cool to meet not only super talented but super nice people in the entertainment industry.

They just released their first official single - Fallen 4 U - on iTunes today through Island Def Jam, and the track's already got a huge fan base.

Download the single here.

They also released the music video last week, and were nice enough to have me make a cameo in the beginning.

Expecting big things from these dudes...

Feelin' Myself

First official single from Nipsey Hussle, featuring Lloyd on the hook. His debut album South Central State of Mind set to drop later this year. Love Hussle's flow on this over the electro beat.

Skewed Empathy (Skratch Bastid blend)

Here we have another fine example of the way my brain works, thanks to Canadian-based DJ Skratch Bastid. Take one of the best tracks off Crystal Castles' new album, and blend it with one of my favorite Outkast joints - "Skew It On The Bar B" from Aquemini. Yes yes y'all.

To Be In Love (Airwolf rmxxx)

See if you can follow this one. Puerto Rican pop star India releases the track "To Be In Love" in 1996. Masters at Work remix it in 1999. Australian producer DCUP reworks it in 2009, and most recently, fellow Australian producer Airwolf remixes it into the certified dancing gem that it is.
Really feeling this...

All I Want Is You

First heard this joint on KMEL last week and was hooked immediately. The combination of Miguel's smooth and soulful vocals with J. Cole's flow is undeniable. Played this at the end of the night at Harlot last Friday, and the place went off.

This Week's Heat: San Francisco Magazine / Harlot

I'm honored to have been selected to perform at San Francisco Magazine's Best of the Bay Area party this year - hailed as the city's biggest bash of the year. This year marks the party's 10-year anniversary, so it will definitely not be one to miss.

Tickets available here.

This Friday night I'm back at one of my favorite clubs in San Francisco - Harlot. For every DJ I know that plays here, it's always one of their favorite nights of the month - myself included.

As always, thanks for the support!
